What happened in Pokémon Horizons Episode #31?
Pokémon Horizons episode #31 introduces Lapras that once belonged to the Ancient Explorer, Lucius. It was first shown escorting ships through thick fog, creating the impression of it as a mythical savior. However, when Friede and the airship crew land in the sea near where Lapras was last reported, Riko and Roy discover that the ship is being attacked by land-based Pokémon while in a deep fog. . Friede went through the mist again, this time with crates on deck, to lure the Pokémon out. When the fog cleared, the team personally captured these Pokémon Pirates, seemingly running a scam with Lapras’ help, shocking everyone at Lapras’ true nature.
Pokémon Horizons Episode #32 Try to reason with Lapras
Lapras turns out to be very different from what Riko and Roy expected, but it’s still one of the Ancient Explorer’s Pokémon and they need its help. However, Lapras has a team of Pokémon Pirates ready to defend against the airship, so hearing it won’t be easy. With the help of Terapagos, Riko and Roy will try to reach Lapras and remind it of its old companions, Lucius’ other Pokémon. Terapagos is shown gathering energy in the preview, with Ancient Poké Balls glowing in resonance with it, suggesting it may take on its true form in the anime for the first time.
Lucius’s Lapras’ behavior proves that not all Pokémon of the same species are the same; Most Lapras are known to be kind, gentle creatures, but this Lapras is large, scarred, and seemingly quite vicious. This is definitely an unexpected twist from the Pokémon anime, depicting Pokémon in a different way than usual. However, Lapras may have reasons for using such scams, so it’s worth listening in and finding out why it’s engaging in all of this. Pokémon Horizon demonstrated the dangers of making assumptions with this Lapras, so hopefully Riko and Roy can appreciate Lapras as much as they do now that they know the truth.
Pokemon
Summary: Spanning over 25 years, Pokemon, also known as Pocket Monsters in Japan, is a multimedia franchise co-created by Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures. Conceptualized by Satoshi Tajiri in conjunction with Ken Sugimori and Junichi Masuda, Pokemon is set in a fictional world where humans live alongside tameable creatures called Pokemon. People who catch, raise, and battle these creatures are called Pokemon Trainers. They embark on cross-continental journeys to raise their Pokemon with the ultimate goal of competing in tournaments to become champions. Pokemon spans a massive range of properties, from a long-running animated series to a successful card game to the medium that started it all, the video game. Additionally, Pokemon started the “two games” trend, where two versions of a game would release and include different Pokemon/features between versions, encouraging players to meet others and trade so they can “catch them all.”
