A die-hard fan who received the news about their favorite anime changing its airtime was really, really hard.
For the most part, the airtime of anime episodes rarely changes, making it one of the most reliable things fans can count on to make sure they can record episodes of the anime. my favorite. Some of the changes are due to some other ongoing event taking precedence, such as sporting events. According to Cola (@melonc0la), in 2006 that event turned out to be a World Table Tennis Championship match and an Inukami! Fans are extremely indignant at the change in the broadcast time of episode 4 “Involuntarily Wearing an Apron!” they sent a parcel to TV Tokyo that included not only a handwritten protest letter but also a bag containing what appeared to be real human bones.
About Inukami Human Bone Incident
A Japanese blog gave a brief summary of what is now known as the “Inukami Bone Incident”. The World Table Tennis Championships in April 2006 had to be extended by an hour, leading to the broadcast of Inukami! The episode airs every Thursday at 1:00 a.m. and is therefore fan taping time. After some investigation, the package contained at least 10 pieces, about 3 to 4 cm. According to the broadcaster, they believe the bones were cremated and postmarked in Yokohama. It is unclear whether the authorities have been able to find the identity of the fan.
Today, instead of sending broadcasters or movie studios dubious parcels to express their displeasure, fans use the internet to express their thoughts. In December 2022, a fan disagreed with the direction of the Chainsaw Man anime adaptation and created a petition, calling for a remake with a new director and new voice actors. Fans of another MAPPA product, Yuri!!! on Ice has launched a #MappaWhereIsYOI petition asking the studio for a status update on the Ice Adolescence animated film that has been delayed for unknown reasons.
A light novel series written by Mamizu Arisawa and illustrated by Kanna Wakatsuki, Inukami! follows Keita Kawahira, the Inukami tamer, who has trouble finding an Inukami, literally “god dog”, to bond with. He eventually becomes attached to the beautiful Inukami Yoko but quickly finds her extremely uncontrollable. Much of the humor in the series comes from Yoko’s jealousy of the other Inukamis, who have shown interest in Keita. Seven Arcs adapted the light novels into an anime with 26 episodes as of September 2006.
Thanks to modern technology, fans no longer have to wait for new episodes to come out every week. Inukami! available to stream on Crunchyroll.
