Last week, I was thankful Oshi no Ko didn't end the season with that devastating twist. Now I'm wondering if this week's high will get even worse. Although we have found out what happened to Goro-sensei's body after all this time so that he can finally be laid to rest, this discovery has raised more questions than answers . Aqua may be content with her mistaken belief that her father is dead, but now Ruby has two good reasons (Ai and Goro) to take up the mantle, represented by a sinister black starburst in each eye. After so many intense episodes filled with the same non-stop character drama and disturbing supernatural phenomena, I've gotten used to Oshi no Ko firing on all cylinders and today I'm not disappointed. A deep mystery that never goes away, combined with the world's creepiest idol music video, ensured that “Wish” ended the season on a strong note.
You just need to talk to each other Challenge 2024: Impossible. While it's reasonable to expect a pair of twins who have gone through a deep trauma together to not want to discuss it and prolong the pain, it's actually very ironic to know that both Aqua and Ruby hold holds various clues to the mystery of Ai's death. —if only they shared them with each other. Instead, they both talked to Akane about their suspicions. Combined with her well-documented brain, she is the character with the clearest view of the big picture. If only her hormones didn't get in the way! When Aqua tells Akane that he credits her for finding Goro's body, she repeatedly admits that Aqua is using her as a prelude to a breakup. But he kisses her instead, so now this fake-dating couple will try real romance. Good for them, but the kiss has the power to erase Akane's mind. In the bath, she was about to connect all the dots before being distracted by the thought of kissing Aqua. “I have a feeling I'm thinking about something important…” That's right! Let's try to remember a little more carefully!
If my “good for them” feeling wasn't entirely sincere, it was because I made no bones about supporting Kana. Poor Kana! Not only did she not have a chance, but she had to live with that knowledge after Akane, who was usually very good at reading the room, absent-mindedly revealed it to her while half her brain was still pondering the mystery. of twins. I'm still angry about two weeks ago, when Aqua dated both Kana and Akane, and someone told me (correctly!) that Aqua talked to Akane as an intellectual equal, but treated with Kana as a child. Kana is not stupid; Aqua hasn't seen her charm yet! However, the rest of the world is about to do the same. During the filming of POP IN 2, Anemone immediately noticed how Kana's efforts made her an attractive idol. Meanwhile, Anemone thinks that Ruby is “boring” in filming, at least at first. After Ruby inherits her will for revenge, her hauntingly shining black eyes make her otherwise cute music video feel uncomfortable. That's the kind of horror—psychological—that I love, where there's pain. pervasive discomfort in an otherwise ordinary setting
As for the person(?) responsible for Ruby's transformation, Crow Girl finally gets her name in the credits! now she is “Tsukiyomi”, which happens to be the name of the moon god in Japanese mythology. Is she really a fickle deity descended to earth to cause trouble? Ruby now knows better
Tsukiyomi revealed an important clue about her father's age. Read again: those subtitles don't say “middle age” but “high school.” In other words, Pops orchestrated the murder of his children's mother before he was in high school. I was imagining Anakin and Padme's age gap here, but since Ai gave birth at 16 and went to middle school until 15, they. probably intervened as 15-year-olds. Not that that makes this situation any less troubling
This episode was rich in content and I spent a lot of time rewinding to check everything because I felt every moment. imbued with important clues. When Ruby dropped an inky tear into the water, the scene was so momentous that I had to rewind to see if it was a crow (I was thinking too much about it at the time). heard the prayer mallet hit the wood 7 times, but there were only 6 visitors—could the 7th time be a prayer for Ai? Then the ending is covered in glitch images. Is it another detail that's meant to be disturbing, like Ruby's vengeful eyes? in a very innocent music video, or a sign that things are about to change
Because Oshi no Ko reveals its supernatural elements sparingly, they pack a punch when it comes to impacting the story. But what really startled me was the bloody final scene featuring a nameless woman with stars in her eyes and a father much older than a middle school student. Not only is he still out there, he's killing people! Who is this woman and why did she have to die? Knowing he's still active raises the already high stakes even more. It's a small blessing that Season 3 has been officially announced, but with the teaser ending like this, it's going to feel like a long wait.
