Aqua and Ruby Make Up for Lost Time
Two brothers spend a day off together
Oshi no Ko is no stranger to controversy. Aqua and Ruby realize each other's identities as early as chapter #122, finally realizing the doctor-patient relationship they shared in their past lives. What follows is a number of very polarizing chapters in which Ruby, despite now being related to her former doctor, Aqua, attempts to become intimate with him in ways that are almost uncomfortable. The focus of the series then quickly shifts to the movie they're working on, and their relationship has not received much attention anymore..
However, with the Movie Arc over and their father's identity revealed, almost all of the major, long-running storylines seem to have been resolved. The latest chapter #157 presents a rare opportunity for Aqua and Ruby, two teenagers trying to break into the entertainment industry, to finally have some free time to spend with each other. It's sweet, if not a little comforting, to see this couple fully aware of each other's past stories.and can spend a normal day together.
Aqua, whose hatred was fueled by her inability to save Sarina, and then Ai, seemed to calm down when she was able to spend time with the former. Ruby, whose busy idol lifestyle comes with a tight schedule, found comfort in being able to lean on her former doctor. The two cooked a meal for Miyako and ended up sleeping together on the couch, ending their otherwise normal day.
Uncertain Times of Peace in Oshi no Ko
While the times are peaceful now, can never be sure they will last in a series like Oshi no Ko. For a series that wraps up stories left off in the final arc, chapters that follow the characters having normal days are not uncommon. However, the title of this most recent chapter seems to put extra emphasis on how normal and wonderful this day is. Maybe a kind of calm before the storm that is unfolding.
The length of the final arc of Oshi no Ko has yet to be officially confirmed, and thus may continue for as long as the writers deem necessary. One of the major unresolved plot points still involves Aqua's love life, The series has hinted at an eventual relationship with Kana Arima.. How Ruby will react to such a development remains uncertain. Regardless, with heartwarming chapters like the most recent #157, peaceful days may finally have come for the main characters of The Owl.
