Oshi No Ko is one of the most popular anime of 2023, breaking records worldwide and generating new interest in Aka Akasaka’s mysterious idol manga. Following that success, the new spin-off will focus on the backstory of one of the most popular characters, Ai Hoshino, shedding light on her past as an idol.
Famous for its colorful designs and revealing the realities of the brutal entertainment industry, Oshi no Ko recently announced that it will receive a second season. While fans will have to wait for updates on the anime series’ next season, an exciting announcement was also made that provides more details about Ai’s idol career.
According to AniNewsAndFacts on X (formerly Twitter), Oshi no Ko will receive a light novel – Spica The First Evening Star – which will focus on Ai Hoshino, Aqua and Ruby’s mother, before she became an idol and extremely famous actor. The novel will be released on November 17, 2023 and it will also reveal how Sarina and Goro, Ruby and Aqua in their past lives met.
Ai From Oshi no Ko deserves its own story
The hour-long first episode of Oshi No Ko showed fans just how amazing Ai Hoshino is. She’s an incredibly talented musician, actress, idol, and an even better mother. Although she was not the main character, she attracted attention and her final death shocked viewers. The upcoming Light Novel will delve deeper into the character and will also give the backstory of the fateful meeting of the bedridden Sarina and the kind doctor Goro, which will make for a painful side story glad fans know how it ends.
Titled Spica The First Evening Star, the spinoff novel Oshi No Ko will be released on November 17, along with another Kaguya-sama novel Love Is War. It will be written by Hajime Tanaka and will include a story by original series author Aka Akasaka. The light novel will tell the story of Ai deciding to leave B-Komachi before she became a star. Because of conflicts with other members, she went to meet the head of the company to announce her resignation, but he made an agreement with her to stay. The summary given by Shueisha is as follows:
“…I have decided. I’m no longer an idol.”
One day, after joining B Komachi, Ai told the company president, Ichigo Saito. Behind B Komachi’s seemingly successful activities, there is a problem of discord between Ai, who plays the central role, and the other members. Ai, fed up with this situation, tries to give up being an idol, but Ichigo proposes marriage to her…! ? Additionally, the untold story of Sarina and Goro’s meeting and parting before they reincarnated as Aqua and Ruby has been revealed!
Additionally, the original novel written by Aka Akasaka was distributed as a reward to those who attended the pre-screening of the first episode of the anime. The super deluxe edition of the first novel also includes “Point of View B”!!
Ai Hoshino is too good a character to not get her own story. Her life is interesting and there’s a lot to discuss: her rise to glory and how she became a mother at such a young age. Although these questions will be answered as the series progresses and Ruby gets closer to the truth, Ai Hoshino deserves to be the main character and she finally gets her chance. The Light Novel promises to entertain fans as they wait for more information Oshi No Ko season 2.
