However, fans can still enjoy a “special broadcast” that was released on May 31, during the episode’s original air date.
The chapter’s latest storyline is one of the most acclaimed and controversial, addressing topics of online harassment and bullying through the character Akane Kurokawa. The episode was well received, ranking the show’s second-highest episode on IMDB. It scored 9.4/10 at the time of writing, just 9.6/10 of the film’s premiere. However, it was controversial when Kimura’s mother expressed criticism towards the anime’s use of her daughter’s story.
Summary of Oshi no Ko Episode 7
Episode 7 – “Buzz” – describes the aftermath of Akane’s suicide attempt. It follows Aqua as he tries to twist Akane’s story in the LoveNow reality TV chapter, trying to paint her in a better light. Akane’s co-stars also tried to support the young actor. This led to an edited version of the episode’s incident that went viral on social media, helping to debunk the character’s tragic experiences.
The episode ends with Akane being persuaded to play a role in LoveNow instead of herself, with the cast encouraging her to imitate Ai Hoshino’s drive. The final moments see Aqua bewildered at Akane’s impeccable imitation of her late mother.
