Oshi no Ko went from strength to strength
Oshi no Ko’s popularity has remained strong since the film’s release. However, it was dethroned from the top spot of My Anime List’s best anime chart by its former number one spot, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Even so, it remains comfortably in second place at the time of writing. The manga series written by Aka Akasaka has also achieved great success. It recently beat popular titles like Dragon Ball Super and My Hero Academia in the top 10 most read titles of Shueisha Manga Plus.
The series is famous for its harsh reviews of the entertainment industry in Japan, showing the dark side of performance. The manga and anime adaptations of it are known for presenting extremely dark themes with bright and colorful visuals, most notably the stylish character designs. Akasaka has gone to great lengths to make the characters as bright and engaging as possible, even recently admitting that she killed Ai Hoshino so she wouldn’t overshadow the main characters of the series. What happened in Oshi no Ko Episode 4
The fourth episode of Oshi no Ko — “Actor” — follows on from last week’s episode, which sees Aqua return to the Drama set and take part in a show with her acting. He performed much better than in previous attempts and gave Kana Arima, who convinced him to join the project, a chance to show off his strong acting skills. This opportunity made the film receive much better reviews than it originally did. Later, Aqua uncovers one more clue in her investigation to find Ai Hoshino’s killer.
On the school side, Aqua and Ruby started their first day at their performing arts high school. While there, they encounter two new characters, a young model named Minami Kotobuki and Frill Shiranui, a multi-talented artist and celebrity in the entertainment industry. The episode ends with Miyako Saito and Ruby discussing possible candidates for their idol group, with Aqua suggesting Kana.
