Naruto, which remains one of the world's most popular anime series since its debut in 2002, will be available to stream for free 24/7 on Amazon Freevee, as well as on-demand on Prime Video, following a new deal with VIZ Media.
According to Variety, Naruto will be getting a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel on Amazon Freevee following a deal between VIZ Media and Amazon. The deal also comes amid a growing trend of popular anime series getting single-IP channels in the U.S. Amazon is expanding the potential of its anime catalog, joining other streaming players like Crunchyroll in recent FAST deals to introduce anime to fans before encouraging them to subscribe for a more enhanced experience.
Ahead of the launch, JP Villanueva, senior director of digital distribution at Viz Media, said, “With the launch of the dedicated linear channel and VOD services, fans can now experience the iconic adventures of Naruto Uzumaki around the clock. This addition not only enriches Freevee’s anime library, but also provides an exciting new way for fans to interact with one of the most popular anime series.” Freevee is available as a standalone app or as part of the broader Amazon Prime Video service on supported devices; Prime Video is one of the most popular anime streaming services in the United States.
Naruto Joins Pokémon & Sailor Moon in Getting a New Dedicated Streaming Channel
Naruto joins the popular Pokémon anime series, which revealed last week that it would have a dedicated FAST channel for its first 22 seasons. Naruto also has a FAST channel alongside Sailor Moon on Pluto TV, which has announced it will have 80 million subscribers by 2023. Until the channel launches, fans can stream Naruto and Naruto Shippuden on Crunchyroll and Hulu; the latter confirmed that it will have all 500 episodes of Shippuden by early 2025. The series is described as follows: “The village hidden in the leaves is home to the most reclusive of ninja. But twelve years ago, a fearsome nine-tailed fox terrorized the village before it was subdued and its spirit sealed in the body of a young boy.”
