Serial killer Rob Lucci gets a feminine twist in a new gender-bending One Piece cosplay.
Crafted and uploaded to Reddit by the incredibly talented Gia Isabella, the cosplay actually features two different versions of the Zoan-type Devil Fruit user. The first recreates the character’s white suit with a purple flower he wore as a member of CP0, and the second represents the dangerous assassin’s leopard form. The first costume notably featured Hattori, Lucci’s pigeon friend, prompting one commentator to claim that the cosplay wasn’t actually Lucci’s; instead, it’s one of “Hattori introduces his perch.”
One Piece and Gender Swap Cosplay
The ruthless CP0 member isn’t the only notable villain in One Piece to receive a gender-swapping cosplay recently. For example, costume guru Kappy_w shared their unique take on Edward Weevil, the self-proclaimed son of the World’s Strongest Man, Edward “Whitebeard” Newgate. While the cosplayer doesn’t fully capture Mo’s sheer size, the expressions and poses in the photos help to promote the pirate’s smug personality in the long run.
Furthermore, TheLoneiestExpat has introduced the Desert King cosplay, Sir Crocodile, which is very similar to the official artwork of One Piece author Eiichiro Oda. The crocodile is at the heart of one of the most popular and interesting theories of the series; many fans speculate that the leader of Baroque Works and former Warlord of the Sea is actually a transgender man and was born to be none other than the story’s meat-obsessed and battle-obsessed protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. Supporters of this theory use everything from the Crocodile’s relationship with the leader of the Okama Kingdom, Emporio Ivankov, to his actions during the Summit War to the aforementioned artwork. above by Oda to support this idea.
One Piece’s position as the best-selling book
The One Piece manga series launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in 1997, and the ongoing series currently includes more than 1,000 individual chapters. The plot follows Luffy and his colorful crew as they sail across the Grand Line in search of hidden treasure. Oda’s masterpiece is currently the best-selling manga in history, with more than 516 million copies in circulation worldwide.
One Piece has a significant amount of gender diversity and weirdness shown around the world and in its characters. In addition to Ivankov and other members of the Okama Kingdom, other prominent examples include Kikunojo, a transgender swordswoman from the country of Wano, and Yamato, the transgender son of Kaido of the Beasts.
VIZ Media distributes the One Piece manga in North America.
