One Piece’s Spinoff Manga Will Follow Ace’s Adventures
This additional miniseries is a prequel to the One Piece manga and follows Ace as he leads his first pirate crew, the Spade Pirates. It also reveals the origin of his discovery of the Mera Mera no Mi Devil Fruit, which grants the character his fire powers, earning him the nickname “Fire Fist” Ace. As the story progresses, it falls into the events of the official manga and has been confirmed as official by Eiichiro Oda.
Ace is a popular character in the One Piece series, known for his powerful Devil Fruit abilities, his role as an inspirational character in Luffy and his compassion. The character is not related by blood to the main character but still assumes the position of “twin brother” with him and Sabo. Although extremely powerful, Ace still has many flaws, leading to an infamous heartbreaking moment in the story.
One Piece is a busy series at the time of writing, as the anime adaptation of Toei Animations is currently receiving a lot of praise for its latest installment. The latest One Piece episodes are adapted from the “Wano Land” and have been declared one of the strongest in anime history. The franchise will also become a live-action as a Netflix series is in development. Fans have seen the live-action version of Going Merry and are hoping the company will fine tune the property. Eiichiro Oda has confirmed that it will only be released when he is satisfied with it.
One Piece on hiatus due to Eiichiro Oda’s health
While the adaptations are thriving, the manga will be on hiatus as it’s currently on a four-week hiatus. This is because Oda is preparing for eye surgery, which many hope will allow the artist to take better control of his health issues.
The One Piece main manga is available to read through Viz Media, with an English translation of the One Piece: Ace’s Story novels purchasable at most participating bookstores.
