One Piece Gashapon Hat Collection Celebrates 25 Years of Anime in Style (mini)
The collection's first new Gashapon is Monkey D. Luffy's straw hat — the name of his Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy's straw hat was lent to him by his idol, Red-Haired Shanks, until Luffy could return it as Pirate King. The second new Gashapon is a miniature version of Tony Tony Chopper's hat, given to him by Hiriluk, his father figure and medical advisor. The pink and blue hat is decorated with a white medical cross tilted to the side, symbolizing Chopper's role as a doctor.
The third hat comes from the character Trafalgar D. Water Law, whose hat is a black and white spotted fur hat. Although the meaning behind the hat has not been revealed, One Piece fans have theorized that the black spots could represent the Amber Lead Syndrome that wiped out his homeland, or the hat could be a gift from his late mother. The fourth gashapon is Sabo's signature top hat, complete with blue goggles strapped to the brim. The specific origin of Sabo's hat is also unknown, although it may be used as a metaphor for his past as a former member of the nobility who ran away to become a pirate. . Last but not least is the classic baseball cap the Marines wear – a white and teal baseball cap that says “MARINE” on the front. Marines with the rank of Seaman and below wear this hat as part of their uniform.
