Following the recent release of Gear 5, the One Piece fan community is urging the series to adopt a seasonal format to increase the pace. The long battle between Luffy and Kaido on the Onigashima rooftop was marred by slow pacing and too many flashbacks, as seen in episode 1075. Almost half of the episode was devoted to flashbacks. about Orochimaru and Kaido terrorizing the people of Wano.
Concerned fans have taken to social media, with one starting a Twitter poll to gauge interest in the “One Piece Final Saga” seasonal schedule. Surprisingly, more than 57% of respondents voted in favor of the switch. Criticism of the series’ slow pace also spread to platforms such as Crunchyroll.

Switching to a seasonal format brings both advantages and disadvantages. It can help improve pacing and higher production quality, allowing animators more time for each episode. This could alleviate the need for excessive flashbacks and extended scenes that have attracted criticism.
However, the financial aspect must be considered. “One Piece” is a long-standing series with a loyal fan base, and changing its original format could disrupt sales. While die-hard fans may be able to adapt to the seasonal format, there is still a risk of losing many casual viewers who are accustomed to a regular broadcast schedule. Disruptions or changes to distribution may result in reduced viewership.
