Episode 1117 is a revolutionary adventure through one of the most infamous locations in the entire world.
This is one of those episodes that is a little harder to digest in a weekly format. It's a very useful episode, aiming to set up what's coming next. We know that we're getting more details about the Revolutionary Army and their activities in recent days. They've been active in the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, we need to get a glimpse of the war and the characters involved. In these cases in One Piece, we usually have a specific type of plot that fits the bill for these openings.
It's kind of a cool character introduction. We usually get a nice, continuous moment whenever we're introduced to a new group of fighters in a location. Each new character gets a chance to do one or two cool things, usually showing off some Devil Fruit power or special attack, and then we move on. This episode is no different—and we go around meeting new members of the Revolutionary Army and watching them pull off cool moves on goobers and free innocent people from their chains.
I think it all works pretty well—up to an episode of these episodes. I especially like Karasu because he has a unique look and cool goth crow powers. I also like Lindbergh’s vision of using a laser to cut all the captives’ chains in one strike. That said, there’s not much going on here to discuss. Aside from a little Ivankov, Dragon, and Cobra popping up for a brief moment or two, that’s basically all we get this week. It’s not bad, but there’s not much to unpack either.
