One Piece episode 1085 finally brings the final curtain to the Wano arc.
It’s a bittersweet ending to a story as long as it is about age-old themes. Momonosuke spends most of his time angry and confused only to finally send Luffy away and burst into uncontrollable sobbing. This is partly because he is still a child at heart, a boy who looks up to the newly anointed general of Wano and is struggling to adapt to changes in status and appearance. material. But this would be a tough breakup for anyone if we’re being honest! While I’ve never really been Momo’s biggest fan, the fact of the matter is that he and Kinemon have been part of the group for a long time. This samurai duo joined the crew in Punk Hazard (!) and have been with Luffy longer than some of the Straw Hat pirates.
I will miss Kinemon’s unique brand of handball the most. But from one wife to another, I’m happy that he returned home to his beloved and everything is okay with Wano again.
The framing device for this episode is also very appropriate. Given that the entire piece was framed around the stage tempo, it made sense that the last word and last beat were delivered to Wano’s all-encompassing audience. They shuddered at every turn and cheered at every victory while the heroes were immortalized outside in traditional paintings. My favorite verse of justice is Hiyori invoking Orochi’s charcoal essence as he explodes into shards of coal. Good for her and good for everyone—they were finally free.
So are the Straw Hats, who are about to embark on their next adventure—their first in many years!
