A member of One Piece’s Worst Generation is brought to life in an on-site recreation.
Uploaded on Reddit and created by cosgojaseggi1, the Capone “Gang” Bege cosplay presents a very accurate interpretation of the not-to-be-pirate pirate; hint of his Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, which essentially turns Bege into a miniature fortress, can be seen throughout the outfit. The cosplayer previously posted an equally impressive photo of Marshall D. Teach (aka Blackbeard).
Briefly introduced in the Sabaody Archipelago Section, Bege and his Fire Tank Pirates became allies temporarily turned rivals in the Whole Cake Island Section. Over the course of the story’s two-year span, the captain becomes a subordinate of Yonko Charlotte Linlin and even marries her daughter, Chiffon. His most up-to-date bounty is 350,000,000 beli.
One Piece fans flexibly create their cosplay
Bege isn’t the only infamous pirate in One Piece that has recently ignited fans’ imaginations. For example, two creative cosplays inspired by the previous Warlords of Sea; Instagram user Katerina shared their accurate take on the Snake Princess, Boa Hancock, and Reddit user TheLoneiestExpat gave none other than the Desert King, Sir Crocodile, a feminine makeover. The latter is very similar to the official artwork of One Piece author, Eiichiro Oda.
The ongoing One Piece manga first appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in 1997, and both it and its anime adaptation have over 1,000 individual chapters/volume. The story follows protagonist Monkey D. Luffy – another member of the Worst Generation – as he and his crew adventure through the Grand Line and pursue their dream of becoming the next Pirate King. Along the way, the Straw Hat Pirates encountered countless dangerous (but often eccentric) enemies, but many of them eventually became Luffy’s allies, temporarily or otherwise, much like Bege. .
Oda’s masterpiece is the undisputed best-selling manga series of all time with over 516 million copies sold around the world. This incredible popularity has spawned not only cosplay and other types of fan-generated content, but also numerous adaptations on other mediums. In addition to the manga and anime, the One Piece multimedia franchise includes theatrical films, video games, light novels, guidebooks, and even a live-action series. Netflix’s One Piece, starring Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, is slated to premiere this year. A promotional poster for the live-action series highlights the Straw Hats’ first pirate ship, the Going Merry.
VIZ Media distributes the One Piece manga in North America, while the anime adaptation by Toei Animation is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu.
