To celebrate the anime’s 40th anniversary, Hayao Miyazaki’s Sherlock Hound animated series will return to Japanese theaters in a completely remastered HD format.
According to PR Times, Sherlock Hound, also known as The Great Detective Holmes in Japan, premiered about two years before the founding of Studio Ghibli. First broadcast on TV Asahi, Sherlock Hound adapted Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes story for younger audiences, recreating the classic characters as anthropomorphic dogs. Now, Japanese film review site Filmarks recommends the film in limited theaters in 2024. From March 22 to April 18, digital remakes of the two films The series’ compilation film will be shown at 117 different locations across Japan.
