Okada, who is also writing the script for the original film, has previously stated that she wanted to recreate the atmosphere she felt as a child watching anime and Japanese films. The boys will be the main characters in this movie, which will depict the “exciting feeling of youth” instead of the sour-sweet teen drama. Mari Okada is known for her work on stories depicting youth and emotions, but most of them are told from a female perspective.
