Nintendo announced on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with Embracer Group AB to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares of Karenmi-based game developer Shiver Entertainment, Inc. and made it a wholly owned subsidiary. With Shiver, Nintendo plans to secure resources for game adaptation and development. Shiver would continue to adapt and develop software for multiple platforms even after becoming part of the Nintendo corporation. The acquisition of Nintendo will be completed upon satisfaction of all related customary closing conditions.
Since December 2012, Shiver has been collaborating with publishers and developers on large-scale game development. The company has worked on porting and developing games like Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1.
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa revealed on May 7 that the company will announce a successor to the Switch console during the company's current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2025.
Nintendo launched the Switch console in March 2017.
