Review of Ninja Kamui Episode 4: This episode is yet another feast for the eyes brought to us by the director of Jujutsu Kaisen. This is an action-packed horror anime, so let’s see how the 4th episode plays out in detail below.
Ninja Kamui Episode 4 Overview
Ninja Kamui is a fascinating Japanese animated film produced by E&H Production and Sola Entertainment, with the delicate direction of Williams Street. Premiering on Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup in February 2024, the show has been eagerly anticipated since its announcement in May 2022. At the helm of the series is director Sunghoo Park, in while the iconic character designs come from Takashi Okazaki.
Ninja Kamui first got everyone buzzing when Adult Swim dropped its teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2023. Additionally, the video game version of Ninja Kamui, titled Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins, will launch in the second quarter of 2024.

I tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I have to cover in order to give a proper response.

Ninja Kamui Episode 4 Review and Recap: Complex Infiltration Plan
Things are finally starting to make more sense, because in this episode, we get a clear picture of Higan’s past. But not only do we witness his history, but also the background of Inspector Mike Morris, which we get a chance to look at.
We understand why Mike is such a diligent cop, who is willing to jump into the dark world of ninjas without thinking about himself or his family. He really has nothing to lose at this point, and I think he believes that only by helping another father will he finally have peace.
His relationship with his partner Emma is also something very precious. Although Emma may pretend to do everything for fame and money, it is clear that she has a lot of respect for her superiors. Mike also considers whatever his juniors say and they are truly the power duo who dream of taking down the technology company AUZA.
In this episode, we also get some very important information about how Higan, Zai, and Mari met each other and what their lives were like before the tragedy happened.
There is another very relevant contrast between Mike Morris and Higan that we can learn from their past. Both of these men have a strong sense of responsibility, but the way they handled things in the past is the difference. Mike Morris chose work over family without foreseeing the sad outcome. While Higan chose his family over his duty, fully understanding the consequences.
But regardless of their past choices, they are now in a position to fight for good. Thankfully, they are not alone, as an unknown person identifies himself as a ninja, wishing to help Higan infiltrate the AUZA base. It seems he is also in hiding because he left the organization.
Now is this a trap or is there actually someone interested in helping Higan overthrow the AUZA group is something we will have to see in the next episode.
Verdict
This episode was once again truly excellent. What I like about this series is how well they maintain the pace. Not once did you feel like the movie dragged on and you really couldn’t miss a scene, as you could lose a lot of important information. The ending of this episode promises a very intense next episode and I’m absolutely thrilled about it.
