The Professionals is a long-running documentary series on Japan’s national television channel NHK, interviewing many professionals from various walks of life who have managed to stand out or excel in their fields.
However, for the first time in the documentary series’ history, they will be interviewing an anime character instead of a real-life expert.
Eren Yeager, main character of Attack on Titanwill transcend the anime world and appear in an episode of The Professionals titled “Eren Yeager Special”, which will air at 23:45 on October 23, 2023.
It was done in conjunction with the broadcast of Attack on Titan 3 Final Season – Part 2 which will air on November 4, 2023 on NHK.
To be clear, Eren’s voice actor Yuki Kaji will not appear in this NHK documentary, but will instead be the anime character himself.
The theme of the documentary will remain the same, with the interview aiming to explore Eren’s working style as a soldier of the Reconnaissance Corps, what he continues to search for, and what he fights for. as well as what being a “professional” means to him.
The official announcement about the documentary on NHK’s website reads as follows:
“The anime series Attack on Titan, which depicts the fierce battle between humans and giants, is about to air its final episode, the second part of its final season (November 5). To prepare for this, Professional: The Way of Work will film a full close-up of main character Eren Yeager. We will explore the’working style’ of a man who fought against the Reconnaissance Corps as a soldier.
What is Eren searching and fighting for? And what does “professional” mean to Eren?!“
MAPPA is responsible for the animation Attack on Titan Final Season. The cast and staff of the previous seasons will reprise their roles from the anime.
Attack on Titan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s monthly Shonen manga magazine Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from September 2009 to April 2021, with the chapters collected into 34 tankōbon volumes.
The series will also receive a new 18-page bonus manga, titled Bad Boys, scheduled for release on April 30, 2024, along with the ‘first and last’ art book Attack On Titan“titled Attack on Titan Fly“
Attack on Titan became a critical and commercial success. As of September 2023, the manga has over 120 million tankōbon copies in print worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. It has won several awards, including the Kodansha Manga Award, the Attilio Micheluzzi Award, and the Harvey Award.
In North America, the series is published in English by Kodansha USA.
