New episodes celebrate the highly anticipated 20th anniversary of Naruto was unexpectedly delayed. The anime’s official website announced the delay several days before its scheduled release, in order to further improve the quality of the final product.
Originally scheduled to begin on September 3, the Naruto 20th Anniversary special is scheduled to air a new episode weekly for four weeks. However, the Naruto Production Committee agreed to postpone it due to quality concerns. Until the time of new release has not been provided. In place of the much-anticipated new episodes of Naruto, a special collection of Boruto episodes will air.
Naruto’s delay was a disappointment to fans, but it should have resulted in a better product
On Twitter, Naruto fan and trusted news source Abdul Zoldyck (@Abdul_S17) shared a translated statement by the Naruto production team, along with a poster of the special episode. While disappointing, especially since the special was scheduled to start soon, delaying the quality improvement is much better than getting a lackluster special. Naruto and his friends have been an important part of fans’ lives for two decades. Having a particularly lackluster special for this highly anticipated return of the original series would only be a bigger disappointment. By spending more time, there’s a better chance that the special can bring back the respect and honor that the series has earned.
The final sentence of the translated statement reads:
We will try our best to meet your expectations, so we thank you for your understanding.
Instead of the 20th anniversary special episode, Boruto Naruto Next Generations Master Master Selection will be broadcast. This essentially means that a selection of the best Boruto: Naruto Next Generations episodes will be available in the original broadcast slot. While not what fans initially wanted to see, this would be better than launching a product just to meet a deadline. With Naruto’s adventures spanning twenty years, a few more weeks or even months is a short time to wait to celebrate the series’ achievements.
Naruto achieved his dream of becoming Hokage, becoming a father and creating one of the most powerful eras the Hidden Leaf Village had seen with the help of his allies. His son’s adventures were met with mixed reactions, but there was always excitement for new stories and specials involving the titular shinobi. Considering that the whole idea behind this special is to present the stories told in the original show in an updated style, it would be counterproductive to put out a poor quality product. When the twentieth anniversary is especially for Naruto doesn’t come after this delay, it may actually be everything fans were hoping for as the team is refusing to rush the final product to a lackluster result.
