Netflix and CD Projekt Red are returning to Night City for a new Cyberpunk anime series, the two companies announced Thursday at Netflix's Geeked Week event. Details about the untitled project are scarce, but what Netflix and CDPR have yet to say about the new anime is perhaps telling.
The new animated project doesn't mention Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, meaning that whatever Netflix and CDPR are cooking up, it probably isn't a sequel to that 2022 series but something new. The announcement also doesn't mention Studio Trigger, the anime studio behind Edgerunners. Instead, the trailer refers to Netflix Animation, the streamer's in-house studio that co-produces and develops animated shows, sometimes with outside studios.
Netflix and CD Projekt Red promise that more information about the new Cyberpunk anime is “coming soon,” so hopefully we’ll get some answers about who’s making it soon.
