Takako Shimura took to Twitter on March 21 to announce that the previously published one-shot manga Futari de Hitorigurashi (Living Alone Together) will be serialized. The series will launch in the spring issue of Bungeishunju's Bunshun Woman magazine, released on the same day.
The manga tells about the daily lives of two women who are single neighbors. Bungeishunju originally published this one-shot in the magazine's 5th anniversary issue on December 22.
Shimura also recently revealed Koiiji's spinoff manga Hatsukoi no Tsugi (What's Next After First Love), which will begin serialization in Kodansha's Kiss magazine starting April 25. Additionally, a new manga by Shimura will debut in issue 70 of Shodensha's OnBLUE Boys-love magazine. magazine, also on April 25.
Previously, Shimura created the manga Awajima Hyakkei, which launched in Ohta Publishing's online magazine PocoPoco in July 2011 before switching to Ohta Web Comic. The series concludes with the release of the fourth compilation volume in August 2022.

Shimura's famous works include The Wandering Son and Sweet Blue Flowers, both of which were adapted into animated television series in 2011 and 2009, respectively. She also provided designs original characters for anime such as Aldnoah.Zero, Battery the Animation and Overtake! racing cartoon.
Additionally, she created a short-lived manga adaptation of the novel Battery. Fantagraphics Books handles the North American distribution of her Wandering Son manga, while Viz Media is responsible for Sweet Blue Flowers. Seven Seas publishes Shimura's Even Thought We're Adults (Otona ni Nattemo) manga digitally and in print.
Her manga Happy-Go-Lucky Days (Dōnika Naru Hibi) inspired an anime film that premiered in Japan in October 2020.
