Summary
The original Naruto one-shot established a completely different relationship between Naruto and Kurama, with Kurama being Naruto’s father. The pilot of Naruto introduces the concept of Naruto being the son of the fox spirit that attacked the village, and his true form as a fox spirit is revealed at the end. Changing Naruto’s father would have important implications for the broader story and the main character’s central plot, as it would obscure his lineage and hint at different themes.
One of Masashi Kishimoto’s best parts Naruto is the development of the bond between the main character and the nine-tailed demon fox, Kurama. At the start of the series, Kurama was portrayed as a malicious entity dedicated to chaos, destruction, and hatred, but Naruto calmed him down and the two became close partners. However, their relationship is completely different in the original one-shot of the series.
Before Naruto became a huge success, Kishimoto had many different ideas for the series, one of which was for Naruto to become a chef instead of becoming a ninja. Although this inspired Naruto’s love of ramen, it was decided that Naruto needed to be more action-oriented. After more specific concepts for the series were finalized, the Naruto manga series was published in 1997 in Akamaru Jump, a branch of Shonen Jump that focuses on highlighting one-shots.
This version of the series was completely different from the story and the world fans knew but established many existing ninja themes. The series went through many revisions before becoming what it is today.
Naruto’s pilot made Kurama his father, the opposite of the Yondaime Hokage
Initial, Naruto is not a ninja but the son of a fox that attacked the village on Mount Oinari. The village chief was the only survivor of the attack. After killing the spirit along with eight other warriors, the chief took pity on Naruto and raised him in the village in the hope that he would grow up to be less bitter and destructive than his father. To fit in, Naruto talks about his life as a mischievous human boy in search of a friend, and at the end of the pilot, his true form as a fox spirit is revealed.
This is the first fox form that Naruto uses and it is completely different from any of Naruto’s tail forms in the main series. Even though Naruto’s plot may be different, there are some things that remain consistent throughout the entire episode and series. Even at these early stages, it’s clear that Kishimoto is aware of some of the series’ larger themes. Unlike his father, who used his demon fox powers to harm and kill, Naruto used them to capture the villain and bring them to justice, showing that the leader did the right thing in bringing him to justice. Naruto entered.
Changing Naruto’s father would have great significance
The fact that Naruto’s father was the cause of the village’s destruction instead of the cause of its salvation would have profound implications for the larger story. With the revelation that Naruto was not only the son of the Fourth Hokage but also the reincarnation of Asura, Naruto demonstrated that heroism, kindness, and compassion had become the main character’s nature. On the contrary, the fact that Naruto is the son of a demon fox makes his lineage much darker. Both result in Naruto being ostracized by his village, but they imply quite different things about the central character of the protagonist and what he needs to overcome.
It’s interesting to think what Naruto would have been like if Kishimoto had stuck to his original idea. Even if it were included in the actual series, Kurama becoming Naruto’s father would make things completely different. Although short, this forgotten Naruto one-shot has some great (and gross) moments, and has themes and ideas that will be expanded upon as time goes on. Naruto takes the form most fans know and love today.
