Did the members of the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse creative team watch Boruto: Naruto Next Generations? One fan seems to think so.
In a Twitter post, a Boruto fan, whose username is dasien, argued that the anime sequel has greatly inspired the latest superhero animated film. They use moments they consider to be visually similar in both IPs to make their point with examples including scenes of Miles, Gwen, Boruto and Sarada sitting side by side, both Miles and Boruto All fall into a colorful background and two young heroes. Both of them stood up triumphantly.
More comparison between Boruto and MCU
Boruto fans claim that the ninja series also inspired an epic fight scene in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America: The Winter Solider. While some viewers like dasien praised the anime’s visuals, others were more critical. Many have described Boruto’s animation as one of its biggest weaknesses; for example, an online commentator highlighted a particular scene in which Naruto Sarada and Mitsuki jump up and down instead of running.
Taking place after the classic Naruto and Naruto Shippuden anime, Boruto debuted in April 2017, with industry veteran Noriyuki Abe (Black Butler: Book of Circus) as project director. The story follows the famous ten-year-old boy – Naruto’s son, the Seventh Hokage – as he trains to become a great ninja and navigates a complicated relationship with his father. In addition to the chapter, there are light novels, video games, and a Boruto manga.
Across the Spider-Verse hit theaters on June 2 and nearly quadrupled the opening box office of its predecessor, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Across the Spider-Verse has thus far been widely praised by both critics and fans and has received numerous accolades, being nominated in the Best Animated/Family category at the Trailer Awards. Gold this year. However, some viewers have complained about issues with the sound that co-writer Phil Lord recently addressed on social media.
The sequel continues the multiverse storyline of Into the Spider-Verse and sees Miles travel to other dimensions. It boasts an all-star cast that includes Shameik Moore as Miles and Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099.
Across the Spider-Verse is currently showing in theaters and Boruto is available on Crunchyroll.
