Boruto: Two Blue Tornadoes The series is now in its second year, and with the first season seemingly over, it's time for one of the main characters to shine. The series has been slowly expanding its supporting cast, but the focus will shift to one of the series' most popular characters.
In an interview, Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto, the two creators of Boruto, discussed the creative process and shared some interesting aspects of the story, such as Code's potential death, Kishimoto's regrets towards Sakura, etc. When talking about the similarities between Kawaki, Boruto, Naruto, and Sasuke, it was revealed that Kawaki character will be developed soon and will most likely get at least one mini-arc. This exciting confirmation brings fans closer to the long-awaited confrontation between Boruto and Kawaki.
Kawaki's self-loathing may soon be resolved.
One of Boruto's most complex characters finally gets a chance to process everything that's happened.
While it is not yet confirmed which aspects of his personality will be developed, it is easy to see which aspects Kawaki should give up if he wants to become better. Due to his tragic childhood where he was constantly taken advantage of and put down, Kawaki developed a terrible sense of inferiority and did not value himself. In many cases, he berated himself and called himself worthless. This explains why he was so attached to Naruto, the first person to acknowledge him and treat him kindly.
“Kawaki is a character who has lost everything and doesn't realize his own worth.”
How the series plays out in terms of him overcoming this will be interesting as it is unlikely that a simple fight will make his insecurities go away. The Naruto series has always dealt with sensitive topics such as PTSD, depression, trauma, etc., making fans feel more emotionally attached to the characters and empathize with them.
This would also continue the trend of the second main character going through a crisis and becoming someone else. Kawaki is probably the most interesting character in the series right now, and as Ikemoto admits, is why the plot can progressSo it's time for the story to focus on him.
Another area where he can grow is his strength, and chapter #13 opened up a possibility for him to become stronger by using Shinjutsu. Right now, there is a huge gap between him and Boruto and he is being overwhelmed by Jura and the villains, so he is in dire need of some strength. The first part of the series will soon end and the excitement is sky high as we enter the second part with all the major developments and twists, but Boruto: Two Blue Tornadoes Kawaki's portrayal will be one of the most interesting storylines.
