In spite of principal is a supporting character in My Hero Academy, his existence completely overturned all accepted beliefs about Quirks in their heads. The uniqueness and variety of these Quirks is one of the main draws of the series for a lot of fans, who love seeing these powers used in many interesting ways. While most Quirks are different, there are some general principles that most follow. Although there are many Quirks, it is generally understood that they only apply to humans. At least that would be a good rule without the Principal.
Quirks can often be divided into three categories based on what they do. Emission-type Quirks allow the user to create, alter, or control things around them, such as Todoroki’s ability to create ice and fire. Transformation-type Quirks alter the user’s form in some way that is usually temporary, much like Kirishima’s ability to harden his body. Finally, Mutant-type Quirks permanently change the user’s form, much like Shoji’s Quirk Dupli-Arms. This last type of Quirk included some of the odd-looking characters in the series, leading to rampant discrimination. This discrimination is even noticed at the end of My Hero Academia, which plays an important role in the story. However, even though they look weird, most Mutants have Quirks that follow the standard rules. Nezu is a shocking exception.
Nezu means terrible to the world of My Hero Academia
Nezu is the principal of UA also known as the hero Mr. He is small and has a unique animal-like appearance caused by his Quirk High Spec Mutant Type, which gives him high intelligence. While this might not seem too unusual at first, series author Kohei Horikoshi confirmed in the extra pages for Volume 3 that Nezu is a very rare instance of an Animal that has acquired a Quirk. This is extremely surprising because while many other Mutants may have a non-human appearance, they are ultimately human and therefore motivated by human desires. However, animals with Quirks are a more unpredictable threat and have the potential to disrupt the world.
If used thoughtlessly, many Quirks can cause unbelievable natural disasters. Therefore, if any animals with these types of destructive Quirks do not receive the same intelligence boost as Nezu, they can be extremely dangerous. And if Quirk possessed animals that were bred and passed on their abilities, things could be even worse. Many animals such as rabbits have larger numbers of offspring at a more frequent rate than humans. Since My Hero Academia has confirmed that Quirks only get wilder and stronger with each generation, Animal Quirks can quickly spiral out of control and become something human heroes can’t handle. Okay.
Fortunately, animals with Quirks are currently extremely rare and therefore easily handled by human society. But if more animals like Nezu start appearing naturally around the world, it could create a world-shaking disaster for My Hero Academia’s universe. So while Nezu is not a very important character in the story of My Hero Academy in and of itself, the implications of his existence are terrifying and have the potential to completely disrupt the world of the series.
