What happened in My Hero Academia, Season 7, Episode #16?
Old Villains Come to the Rescue
The episode begins on the battlefield of Gunga Villa, where both Toga and Dabi suddenly appear thanks to Kurogiri's portal. Toga immediately begins flooding the area with Twice clones, much to Hawks' shock, as he had gone to great lengths to ensure she couldn't find any of his blood and did exactly that. All for One is delighted with this development, and things are looking extremely bad for the heroes, who are now even more outnumbered than before.
Kurogiri's portal took Aizawa away from the UA battlefield, freeing Shigaraki to use his Quirk, and began flooding UA with Twice double. Twice double added a large amount of weight to UA, making it unable to float, especially when combined with Skeptic hacking in. However, thanks to Gentle's timely arrival, the airborne battlefield was captured before it could make contact with the ground. La Brava managed to block Skeptic's attack, while he was captured by the Ketsubutsu students and other heroes. Finally, Lady Nagant fired a powerful shot, cutting off Shigaraki's hand from miles away.
My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode #17 Restoring Hope
The heroes begin to assemble
Episode #17 of My Hero Academia season 7 is titled “Hopes.” With the help of these former villains, the situation is kept from getting as dark as it could have been. Despite the injuries Nagant inflicted on Shigaraki, his regenerative abilities will continue to make him a major threat, especially since he can use his Quirks once again. With the original plan falling apart, it’s up to Deku and Deku to decide what to do next, as he takes full responsibility for the battle against Shigaraki.
The episode will likely backtrack a bit and reveal exactly how Lady Nagant got into position to help Deku, and her current state, as she's still in the hospital recovering from the self-destruct injuries All for One inflicted on her. Meanwhile, Gentle will be tasked with keeping UA airborne until La Brava can undo the damage Skeptic did and reactivate UA's flight system. It's a difficult task, even with La Brava's love empowering him, but the fate of the flying battlefield and everyone on board is completely in his hands.
With so much going on in so many different places, it can be a little hard to get a sense of how the overall fight for Japan's fate is playing out. Things don't look good, but Nagant and Gentle's support could help turn things around. There's certainly a lot at stake right now, and the next episode of My Hero Academia can't come any sooner
