Dabi’s tragic story is coming to an end in My Hero Academia
Fans of My Hero Academia know the tragic history of the Todoroki family. However, only the fourth child (Shoto) inherited both of his parents’ Quirks, which drove the first son, Toya, to go mad as he felt abandoned by his own father. Toya nearly dies in an accident of his own making and then returns years later as the villain Dabi, ready to inflict suffering and pain on his father and brother.
Dabi has a powerful Fire Quirk, but he has poor heat tolerance, inherited from his mother, which means he injures himself every time he uses his flame. This is what caused Endeavor to stop training Toya, and lead to the boy going insane, but chapter #387 reveals that Dabi actually also inherited his mother’s Quirk, which is why he was able to live missed the enormous amount of heat he was currently generating, enough to hurt Endeavor itself. Therefore, it makes sense for Rei to join the battlefield, as Toya also always blames his mother for not trying to stop Endeavor’s abuse.
Rei is the perfect hero to stop Dabi’s madness
Rei has always been portrayed as the victim in the Todoroki family story, but ever since she forgave her husband, her character has taken on a whole new perspective. Instead of letting Endeavor bear all the burden for his past mistakes and Dabi’s crimes, Rei says the whole family should be held accountable and her participation in the battlefield shows her determination.
