It was announced on August 30, 2024 that the manga My Dress Up Darling Shinichi Fukuda's novel will be adapted into a live-action television series.
The drama will begin airing on October 8, 2024, on the Dramaism block on MBS and TBS.
My Dress Up Darling The live-action series will star Riko Nagase and Kouta Nomura as the leads Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojo, respectively.
Riko Nagase expressed her excitement for the role by saying, “I am Riko Nagase, playing Marin Kitagawa. When I first read the original manga, I found Wakana's seriousness and Marin's charm really impressive. When we met with the director, we discussed the importance of maintaining the dynamic between the two characters. They may look completely opposite, but they have some similarities, and I wanted to carefully depict how they develop through cosplay. Marin may look flashy, but she has a fragile heart, and I'm really excited to play her. The hairstyle, makeup, and cosplay costumes are also very lively, so please look forward to the performance!”
Kouta Nomura also shared his comment: “I am Kouta Nomura, playing the role of Wakana Gojo.
The manga follows the bright and energetic Marin, who knows her own mind, and Wakana, who is shy, serious, and innocent but devoted to everything she does. Their interactions, despite their different personalities, are both adorable and heartwarming, and I found them extremely cute and entertaining. This story really helped me re-evaluate the importance of recognizing and embracing what you love. I hope the film adaptation of Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru will become a work that everyone loves, so I would be happy if you could look forward to it enthusiastically!“
Koji Shintoku will serve as director, with Satoko Okazaki handling the script.
