My Deer Friend Nokotan episode 5 aired last week and it made me wonder, who has a more dangerous life? A former delinquent or a current deer? As a delinquent, you sometimes have to face a fight or a stabbing. But you don't have to worry about being shot down by a minigun, that's what deer worry about.
Nokotan fights for her life every day, but Koshitan’s biggest pain is the love letter in her locker. Can I relate? No. The only time I ever feel nervous when I see a piece of paper is when it says “bill” or “overdue.” But for a virgin-at-heart ex-felon, a love letter is the kind of thing that makes them swoon. When Nokotan asks her if she’s dating the person who posted it, however, she makes a rom-com protag move and goes all in. I used to like Nokotan, but now I love her. Her disgust at Koshitan’s meekness is met with the same criticism as a pro-choice advocate when she hears that Mr. Trump is about to make another run at the presidency.
Seriously, we need Nokotan to make a cameo on all the romantic shows. Too shy to hold hands? Insert a Nokotan shout, “GET OVER YOURSELF, BIG FRIEND!” MC doesn’t want to confess? Insert a Nokotan shout, “GET OVER YOURSELF, BIG FRIEND!” An MC walks into his lover’s dressing room and doesn’t immediately rip his pants like a stripper in Las Vegas. Insert a Nokotan shout, “GET OVER YOURSELF, BIG FRIEND!”
To the frustrated Koshitan, this isn't a love letter. It's a throwdown challenge. A challenge that the 'reformed' Koshitan wastes no time meeting. In moments like this, it's important to remember that violence is not the answer. It is the solution. But despite her tiger-like spirit, she's armed with a baseball bat, a chain, and a spiked taser. My mind is naturally wandering, so when I saw this, I tried to figure out how gangsters fight in Japan. But the first result was a VICE video. I'd rather Amber Heard in her bed doing that weird dog-ass pull-up than watch a VICE video.
So I had to watch the match without any reference. But I know that no matter where you are, if you pull out an explosive device in a fight, you will be on the winning side of that fight. Koshitan obviously didn't know this. So when she had the option to blow up her aggressors, she blew up her school's auditorium instead.
Nokotan, Homeless Wanderer or God
As Nokotan, My Deer Friend Episode 5, Koshitan realizes that she wants the peaceful days back; she needs to find the dirt on Nokotan. After all, they may be Deer Club associates, classmates, and maybe even friends, but what does she know about Nokotan?
Apparently not much. She didn't even know that Nokotan worked part-time at the Hino Zoo deer exhibition or that she was a chosen one from heaven to walk among the golden deer. However, despite finding out all of this, Koshitan forgot about it by the end of the day.
Never trust thick eyebrows
Short + cute + thick eyebrows = trouble. I will repeat those words until I am happy in my grave. And Nekoyamada is the embodiment of this saying as she is trying her best to take down the deer club. But because she has the intelligence of a deer caught in the headlights, Nekoyamada's plan quickly fails and she begins training to be a deer. For her, she has the form of a good deer; she can grow antlers at will.
I wasn't jealous that Nekoyamada could become a good deer. And I certainly wasn't there when she was given her antlers. I mean, I could have made a part of me grow at will too! And I mean the panic attacks I caused myself. But with the consolation that she could achieve an A+ deer, Nekoyamada headed home, not getting any closer to her goal.
My Deer Friend Nokotan Episode 5 Comments
As a huge fan of the series, I have no major complaints about it. But some people will disagree with me because there are more and more viewers who are dissatisfied with the show, who are expecting over-the-top comedy or something different. But that's why you should never judge a show by its hype. Dead comedy and comedy aren't for everyone; shows like this aren't particularly popular, and even shows that are worth watching aren't popular with most people. That said, I wouldn't change anything about it, except maybe Koshitan learning to accept the deer a little faster.
