Mushoku Tensei, or Jobless Reincarnation, is one of the most popular new generation isekai manga series, which also received high praise for its anime adaptation. So it’s no wonder that every chapter of this manga has a lot of hype surrounding it.
The focus of the story now is on Eris and her efforts to become stronger so that one day she will catch up with the Dragon god Oersted. In Chapter 88, we saw that despite her best efforts, Eris still failed and fell short compared to her teammates, but the sword god decided to let her train under his command. and make her really strong, and so a new Eris will appear in future Chapters soon!
Mushoku Tensei Chapter 88 “Sharpening Your Fangs”: Summary
Eris was training to get even stronger and better swordsmanship than anyone else, so she pushed her to the absolute limit. “Faster, faster,” she kept shouting as she practiced and thinking of all the people who were better at swordsmanship than she was. She was attacked by a wild beast while training, and she easily cut the animal in half while she was on fire from the inside.
Eris believes that she is still too slow and rests for a while. She takes the meat of the animal she killed and cooks it to make a meal. She thinks about how everyone in her Dojo continues to train as before and believes that no one can get stronger because she is still too weak. She thought about Ghislaine, Ruijerd, the sword god and Orsted and how they were all faster than her.
Eris decided to become stronger to save everyone from suffering the same fate as Rudeus and went home to rest first. Eris arrives home and is greeted by a strange man. She was angry that her training wasn’t going well and so she asked the man to move out. He refused to move and drew his sword, leading Eris to prepare for battle.
The man was stunned by her aura and thought about who she could be. Eris attacked with all his might, but he dodged the attack and still admired the destructive power of Eris’s blade. They fought for a while until they were stopped by the sword of God. The man, known as the Emperor of the North, recognized Eris by her name, “crazy dog”.
Eris lay on the ground and cried for her weakness while the Northern Emperor and the sword god praised her fighting skills. Ghislaine angrily entered the room and shouted at the sword god for not teaching Eris anything.
The Sword God immediately stood up and placed his sword against her throat to silence her. He explained to Ghislaine that to become truly strong one needs to break the boundaries of reason and that cannot be done by learning.
To be able to defeat Orsted, Eris needed to break reason on her own, for Orsted was beyond all that. He introduces the Northern Emperor Auber Corvette to her and tells her that he will train Eris now because he is well versed in the northern style Orsted uses. He also tells Ghislaine that he also sent a letter to the water god to train Eris, which calms her down a bit.
Ghislaine agreed to the sword god’s teaching method and greeted the Emperor of the North. She feels proud that her master has good plans for Eris and says that now Eris will become much more important and get the approval of the Emperor of the North in a year.
