The cuteness is back with Mr. and Mrs. Turn Young Again episode 2. And through all the awkward flirting, fuwa-fuwa moments and everyday happenings, it's actually very fitting for the way someone will act in this situation.
If at first you don't succeed…
What is the biggest regret that most people have later in life? Ask anyone on the street that question and you'll likely hear answers like “regret not working harder” or “regret not taking on more career opportunities or further”. We are a materialistic/consumption oriented society, so this makes sense. But if you ask someone who is terminally ill or at the end of life the same question, the answer you get is exactly the opposite. Instead, what you hear is almost always statements like “I wish I spent less time working and more time with my family,” “I wish I didn't work too hard-working” or “I wish I had done that”. Be more honest with yourself.”
Rest assured, when your time comes, all the success in the world won't buy you another minute. But let's say you did what you had to do out of necessity. You know you want to do something else. But you must survive. Then, suddenly, you get another chance with all the perks you've earned. How would someone in that situation actually react? Will they work hard in life again? No, they're going to focus on the important things and in Mr. and Mrs. Who Turned Children Back Volume 2, that's the theme.
With their newfound strength and vitality, you would think Grandma and Grandpa would be racing to get ahead in life. But instead, they are just reliving the slow life they always wanted. Whether it's performing kabedon, buying clothes for each other, or just enjoying time with family, they realize how lucky they are and how rare the opportunity they just got is.
With a new life comes new problems
The problem with trying things again is that even though you have experience, that experience may not be the right fit. When he and she first met, like in the first episode, even the concept of marrying for love was unfamiliar. Public displays of affection are something far removed from everyday life.
So when Mino playfully teased his grandparents about holding hands and date nights, they both shrugged it off as a “youthful” agenda. One might think that shyness is gone over the age of 70, but shame is one of the few feelings that will follow you to the grave.
But to prove it, our young couple has more important things to do than let the world know what happened. They kept their transformation so secret that their son did not know about it. And after meeting with their son or doctor, we found out that Ine had liver cancer. But her vitality has made leaps and bounds compared to before, which is promising. So perhaps her body's recovery can also fight the cancer that is tormenting her.
Mr. and Mrs. become young again Episode 2 – Summary
But as Grandpa and Grandma Become Young Again Episode 2 ends, we learn that Grandpa is old again, meaning whatever caused their age change isn't permanent. The film is more of a slice of life than a full-blown romance. Is a simmering, long-term romance worth less than a fiery new love? Who knows? Maybe I'm not old enough to understand that concept. But I understand how lovely it is to see two people have the life they deserve.
