The upcoming movie Haikyu: The Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump has revealed a new key image. The film is a direct sequel to the fourth season of the television anime.

Production IG is animating the film, which will be divided into two parts and will be fully adapted from the manga. The first season’s release date has been set for February 16, 2024. The first film has the same Japanese title as Haikyu!! Gomisuteba no Kessen (Battle of the Trash Can), is the 294th chapter of the manga. It will cover the highly anticipated clash between Karasuno and Nekoma teams.
Production IG also animated the television anime adaptation of the Haikyu series (stylized as Haikyu!!). The first season aired in 2014, followed by a sequel that began in fall 2015 and ended in winter 2016, after 25 episodes. Part 3, titled Haikyu!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy had 10 episodes that aired throughout the fall of 2016. Haikyu!! Riku vs Kuu OVA serves as its sequel. The latest part of the anime Haikyuu!! To the Top aired in two installments – the first in Winter 2020 and the second in Fall 2020. In addition to the television anime, the franchise has also released many compendium films, OVAs, spin-offs, and an omake.
Haikyu is based on the manga by Haruichi Furudate that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. The manga ended after 405 chapters, compiled into 45 volumes. Viz Media licensed it in English and describes the plot as follows: After losing his first and last volleyball match to Tobio Kageyama, the “King of the Court,” Shoyo Hinata vows to become his rival. after graduating from secondary school. But what happens when the person he wants to defeat turns out to be his teammate?!
The anime will have its own panel at the upcoming Jump Festa ’24.
