A trailer streamed for the new release featuring content previously only available in Japan
CAPCOM announced during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase livestream on Wednesday that it will release the original Monster Hunter Stories, the first RPG for the Monster Hunter franchise, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. in the summer of 2024.

The new release will feature improved graphics, Museum mode, and content previously only available in Japan.
In the story of the game, in a certain Riders village, children begin their adventure with a game of “Egg Hunt Tag.” The main characters, Lilia and Shuval go into the forest and discover a monster egg, and the egg hatched. Through this encounter, the monster awakens and the three friends begin to walk their own paths.
Monster Hunter Stories originally launched for Nintendo 3DS in October 2016 in Japan and in the West in September 2017. CAPCOM released the game for smartphones in Japan in December 2017 and in the West in September 2018.
The tie-in anime The Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON premiered in Japan in October 2016. Crunchyroll streamed the series with English subtitles as it aired, and Funimation streamed the English dub.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin launches globally on Switch and PC via Steam in July 2021.
