Colleen Clinkenbeard, the English voice actor for the character Monkey D. Luffy in the One Piece anime, has now watched the live-action adaptation of the series on Netflix and gave the latter a positive review.
In a post on “Just finished watching @OnePieceNetflix and I really liked it,” she said. “It was difficult to fit all that content into such a small number of episodes, but they did it while keeping the core story intact. It’s fun to watch all the characters fall in love with Luffy! How could you not?”

One Piece will miss the end timeframe predicted by Eiichiro Oda, who has continuously dropped information this year about when he plans to end the series.
The pace of Netflix’s live-action One Piece is much faster than the Manga
Usually, anime series have about 1-4 chapters per episode. A Reddit user recently charted the number of chapters the One Piece anime includes, showing that its “East Blue” arc was adapted to 2.14 chapters per episode. For comparison, Netflix’s One Piece has about 12 chapters per episode. Although this decision was not universally approved, the manga adaptation of One Piece is one of the most critically acclaimed live-action adaptations in history. The thinking behind this decision was explained by host Matt Owens.
“Our entire season is organized into four two-episode parts in which we meet a new Straw Hat, get to know them, and find out where they fit into their world. This isn’t just the origin story of how this group came together… It’s the encapsulation of the idea of a family being created. A spirit of solidarity and adventure,” Owens said. As fans of the One Piece manga will remember, this means that the “Loguetown” arc does not appear in live-action. However, fans can be happy to see their favorite characters under threat, as Owens later confirmed that “Loguetown” will be adapted at some point in the series.
