While most fans realize that by Mewtwo life in Pokémon got off to a rough start, another clone in the anime’s universe with a much more tragic life — and plot. The First Pokémon Movie is the best film in the series for several reasons, but many of its key intro elements are unknown to fans. This includes the life of Amber – a human clone.
At the beginning of the 1999 animated film, the development of Mewtwo is seen. Scientists discover DNA of the legendary Pokémon, Mew, which was then used to create Mewtwo. Upon awakening, the cloned Pokémon is seen conversing with Dr. Fuji – the project’s lead scientist, who acts as the narrator for the film’s opening. What is not shown in the final cut is why Dr. Fuji was involved in this project in the first place.
The most tragic clone of Pokémon is Dr. Fuji’s daughter, Amber
Later added as a special feature to the film’s home releases, “The Uncut Story of Mewtwo’s Origin” is an additional trailer that further reveals the cloning process. Mewtwo isn’t the only clone Dr. Fuji created with Team Rocket’s support. He cloned three more Pokémon (Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur), as well as a human child. Having lost his daughter, Amber, he created Ambertwo. Amber dies in a car crash, leading to Dr. Fuji’s efforts to make a perfect clone. However, this trial will not prove effective. “The Uncut Story of Mewtwo’s Origin” details the friendship of four clones who are able to gather in a collective consciousness seemingly created by Amber – although this also seems to be a possibility. derived from Mewtwo’s telepathic abilities.
Although the group became best friends, Mewtwo was the only clone that survived and was freed from captivity. The others disappeared from the collective consciousness in a heartbreaking sequence leaving Mew’s clone alone as a much younger version of himself. The loss of his companions and companions is a tragedy and Ambertwo’s circumstances and fate make his origin story all the more sad. Initially, Mewtwo’s choices seem to stem from a lack of respect for his life and lack of purpose. However, adding the story of Ambertwo and other clones to the mix makes his anger at the scientists much more plausible and understandable. Mewtwo is not simply lashing out. He had lost the only thing that made him feel alive in the early stages of his existence.
For many years, Dr. Fuji seemed to be simply a foundational support figure in the ranks of Team Rocket. He serves the purpose of creating a powerful cloned Pokémon, introducing Mewtwo through his narrative and getting the story going. The additional footage paints a much larger picture, in which a father tries to win back his daughter through scientific methods and not only fails but is hated and attacked by the only creature. his most surviving. Not only did he have to live with the second loss of his daughter, but he was probably killed and never succeeded in achieving his true goal. Mewtwo Maybe Pokémon most famous clone thanks to the movie, but he is not the ONLY clone with a tragic history.
