Mei Hachimoku announced on his Twitter account on Tuesday that he and illustrator Kukka’s light novel The Mimosa Confessions (Mimosa no Kokuhaku) will end with its fifth volume.
Seven Seas has licensed the novels, and will publish them on June 4, 2024. The company describes the story:
Growing up in a boring suburb, Sakuma had nothing to brighten his dull days other than his best friend. Smart, talented, and attractive Ushio seems to have everything Sakuma lacks, and his academics and athletic prowess make him popular with the girls at school. Past trauma — and an understandable inferiority complex — gradually drove the two apart, and by the time they entered high school, they could barely even talk anymore. So Sakuma found himself alone.
Despite all the difficulties, he finally has a friend in Natsuki, the sweetest girl in the class. The two begin to passionately talk about their favorite novels, and he falls in love with her. But that same night, he came across an unexpected sight while passing by a familiar park: his old friend Ushio, wearing a full-body schoolgirl uniform and sobbing uncontrollably.
The series debuted in July 2021. The fourth volume of the series (pictured right) was released in Japan on December 18.
Hachimoku released The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes (Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi) illustrated novel series by Kukka in July 2019. The novel ranked 9th in the publication’s Bunkobon category 2020 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! Instruction manual (This Light Novel is amazing!).
Koudon launched the manga adaptation in Shogakukan’s Sunday GX magazine in July 2020 and ended it in November 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the original novel and its manga adaptation.
