Mash, the protagonist of Mashle: Magic and Muscles, uses a very clever technique to “fly” while playing “Quidditch”.
Episode 3 of the A-1 Pictures anime, “Mash Burnedead and the Baleful Bully,” introduced a series version of the classic Quidditch game in Harry Potter, known in this world as Duelo. The non-magical protagonist was forced into a game in the next episode, “Mash Burnedead and the Challenging Magic User”, which required him to jump on a broomstick and fly. However, instead of relying on magic, Mash used his intense physical strength to make himself levitate by jumping extremely high in the air and kicking his legs hard to make him float.
Mash uses his muscles to make up for his lack of magic
Mash’s impressive physical achievements have put him in the air. However, he cannot move back to the Duelo field. Even so, he once again used his physical prowess to make up for his lack of magic by throwing the Duelo ball towards the hoop. He throws the instrument with a curved ball hard enough for it to return to his hand, allowing him to repeat the activity over and over until his team scores 999 points, the maximum allowed in game.
Besides the game Duelo, the episode also marks the debut of the character Lance Crown. This powerful magic user engaged Mash in a one-on-one magic battle for the silver coin he won in the Duelo game. Students have to collect these coins to try to become a Visionary. Kaito Ishikawa, best known for playing Tenya Iida in My Hero Academia, Tobio Kageyama in Haikyuu!! and One Punch Man’s Genos voiced Crown.
About Mashle: Magic and Muscles
The series, written by Hajime Komoto and serialized in Shōnen Jump, is an interesting spoof of the Harry Potter series with its One Punch Man-style protagonist. It is about Mash Burnedead, a young man without magic in a world where your social status corresponds to your magical abilities. He aims to become a Divine Visionary at the prestigious Easton Magic Academy in order to provide a better life for his adoptive father.
Although Mash possessed no magic, he had a tremendous amount of power at his disposal at his disposal when his body was working so hard. He uses these physical skills to manipulate the world around him and solve his lack of magic in an all-magic school.
Mashle: Magic and Muscles is available on Crunchyroll, while VIZ Media publishes the manga.
