The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Akane Shimizu's live-action film Cells at Work! (Hataraku Saibō) manga posted a “first teaser” on Tuesday. The teaser announces the film's main cast and its December premiere.

Mei Nagano (live-action My Broken Mariko, Ni no Kuni, Peach Girl, Burn the House Down, Tease Master Takagi-san) will play Red Blood Cell, and Takeru Satō (live-action Rurouni Kenshin, Ajin, Bakuman., Beck) will play White Blood Cell.
Hideki Takeuchi (live-action Nodame Cantabile, Thermae Romae, Fly Me to Saitama) is directing the film, with a script by Yūichi Tokunaga (live-action Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Liar x Liar, Princess Jellyfish). Warner Bros. Japan is distributing the film.

Shimizu has launched the original Cells at Work! manga (seen right) in the March 2015 issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine and ending in January 2021. Kodansha USA is publishing the manga in English.
The original manga's first television anime premiered in July 2018. The second season premiered in January 2021, alongside the Cells at Work! Code Black side story manga.
Kodansha USA is also releasing the following spin-off manga in English: Cells at Work: Bacteria!, Cells at Work!: Neo Bacteria!, Cells at Work! White Brigade, cells at work! Honey, the cells are NOT active!, The cells are active! Code Black, Cells at Work and Friends!, and Cells at Work: Platelets!.
The newest cells at work! The concluding spin-off manga is Hataraku Saibō Illegal (Cells at Work! Illegal) by Kae Hashimoto, which ended in July 2023. The manga focuses on a body that uses illegal substances and is subjected to physical violence. The spinoff manga Hataraku Saibō Lady (Cells at Work! Lady) by Akari Otokawa and Shigemitsu Harada ended in September 2022. The manga focuses on the physiology of adult women, such as menstruation, pregnancy, and birth. Harada also writes separate cells at work! spin-off manga Cell at Work! Code Black, ending January 2021. Hataraku Saibō Neko (Cells at Work! Cat) by Choco Aozora and Meku Kaire, and Hataraku Saibō Okusuri (Cells at Work! Medicine) by Koma Warita and Ryō Kuji (Cells at Work! Medicine), both of which recently debuted in the May 2023 issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Sirius magazine.
