After a long period of silence, fans of the One-Punch Man franchise finally have the latest update on Sony's live-action film, with Rick and Morty writers on board to pen the script.
A new report from The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon will pen Sony's upcoming live-action One-Punch Man movie alongside Rick and Morty co-executive producers , Heather Anne Campbell. The report highlights that the script is being rewritten, with Justin Lin still attached to direct.

The announcement of a live-action One-Punch Man film shocked fans in 2021, with Venom's Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner first revealed to be writing the script. Lin, Avi Arad and Ari Arad of Arad Productions will produce the film in what is hoped to be the first film in the One-Punch Man franchise. Avi Arad participated in many live-action adaptations, such as 2017's Ghost in the Shell, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda and Naruto films.

Originally a webcomic by artist ONE, One-Punch Man has quite a distinguished adaptation history. The comic series received a manga remake by Yusuke Murata – one of the most famous artists in Japan – before the film was adapted into an anime that captivated audiences thanks to the production of studio Madhouse. JCStaff's second season later attracted major criticism for what fans considered a failure to compare to Season 1. JCStaff will return for One-Punch Man Season 3, releasing a trailer in February 2024.
