The official Twitter account for the live-action film adaptation of Tomoko Yamashita's Ikoku Nikki (Diary of a Strange Land) manga revealed a new full trailer along with new key art from the film on Thursday. Trailer introduces the song Yoake no Anata e (To You at Daybreak) by singer-songwriter Toaka (Suzume).

Toaka said she loved the original manga and had read it countless times before this film project was conceived. When the song's demo caught the attention of the film's production team, they used the song as the “inspiration song” for the film.
The film opens in theaters in Japan on June 7.
Eriko Hashimoto wrote and composed another song, “Asa no Uta” (Song of Asa). During the film's story, Asa's high school light music club plays the song.
The film stars Yui Aragaki as Makio Kōdai and Ikoi Hayase as Asa Takumi. Natsuki Seta will direct and write the script for the film. Other cast members include:
The series revolves around 35-year-old novelist Makio Kōdai and his 15-year-old niece Asa, who live together under the same roof. Makio suddenly adopted Asa after Asa's parents, including Makio's older sister, passed away. The next day, Makio regains consciousness and remembers that she doesn't get along well with others. So begins their daily life, as Makio tries to adjust to her roommate, while Asa tries to get used to an adult who never acts the same.
Yamashita launched the manga in June 2017 in Shodensha's Feel Young magazine, and ended it in June 2023. The manga's 11th and final volume was published in August 2023. The manga is titled nominated for the 28th annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Awards this year.
Yamashita launched the supernatural mystery manga for night-loving boys The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window in Libre Publishing's BExBOY Magazine in March 2013 and ended it in December 2020. SuBLime is releasing the manga under digital format in English. The manga inspired a live-action film that premiered in January 2021. The manga also inspired a television anime that premiered in October 2021. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired waves in Japan.
