The production staff of the live-action film of author Reiko Hiroshima and illustrator Fushigi Dagashiya Zenitendō's children's novel series released a second trailer on Thursday. The trailer reveals Wednesday Campanella's (Suiyōbi no Campanella) theme song “Negai wa Gyō-san” (My Wish Is Gyo), as well as additional cast members. The staff also revealed a new poster image.

Wednesday Campanella composed the song for the film with its theme.
Kokoro Hirasawa joins the cast as Madoka, Kotarou's younger sister who aims to enter art school but loses faith in her art. Other new cast members include Himena Irei, Noa Shirayama, Tenta Banka, Yukino Imahama, Miray Yamammoto, Keisuke Watanabe, Rie Tanaka, and Jirō (from the comedy duo Shisonnu).
The movie will be released on December 13.
The film stars Yūki Amami (Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, Kaiji: The Ultimate Gambler, Mary and The Witch's Flower) as mysterious shop owner Beniko.
The cast includes:
Kazuya Ōhashi as Kotarou Todoroki, a rookie teacher and an original character from the series Rikka Ihara as Youko Aida, an editor at a fashion magazine and Kotarou's classmate from college Mone Kamishiraishi as Yodomi, the owner of a rival candy shop
Hideo Nakata (Ring, Dark Water) will direct the film and Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Violet Evergarden, Liz and the Blue Bird, The Heike Story) will write the script. Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music,
The story of the novel revolves around the mysterious Zenitendō candy and snack shop, which only lucky people can find. The shop's owner is a woman named Beniko, and she can recommend the perfect candy for everyone's troubles. However, things can go wrong if people eat or use the candy incorrectly. Whether Beniko's sweets bring good luck or bad luck depends on the person who receives them.
The novel series debuted in May 2013 and is still ongoing. The franchise has over 1.4 million copies in print. A stage play adaptation premiered in Tokyo in August 2023.
The novel series inspired the anime Eiga Fushigi Dagashiya Zenitendō, one of four segments in the new season of the revived Toei Manga Matsuri compilation series. The compilation film opened in Japanese theaters in August 2020. The film was scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters in April 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic.
A television anime based on the novels premiered in September 2020 and began a new season in April 2022. A new series premiered with the anime's 85th overall episode on NHK Education in April 2023. Another new series premiered on April 5 earlier this year.
