Level 5 announced a new “ghost-making” role-playing game called HOLY HORROR MANSION during its LEVEL5 VISION 2024 TO THE WORLD’S CHILDREN online event on Tuesday. Level 5 is partnering with entertainment companies to develop a game themed around “family.” The company did not disclose the platform or release date. It will hold a multimedia showcase in spring 2025 to reveal media and merchandise plans.
The story follows Ten Lordland (О̄ya in Japanese), who lives in a mansion on the roof of an apartment complex. After finding a strange camera in a locked room, his nose hairs begin to glow and a ghost emerges from his nose. With the power of various ghosts, Ten sets out to stop the evil De Ville Corporation, the Dark People, and their strange monster artifacts. Using Cameron, the ghost camera, players can find hidden ghosts.
The Green Ghost or “Green Concept Dance” is inspired by real-life performer SANTA, a member of WARPs UP. When the Green Ghost enters anything, it comes to life. “Blue Concept Dance” is based on Japanese comedian and singer-songwriter Pikotarō. The Green Ghost can combine objects like apples and pens to create chimeras. “Pink Concept Dance” is based on the Japanese avant-garde dance group who previously appeared on America’s Got Talent. The Pink Ghost is like an architect who can create worlds.
Level 5 announced the Yo-kai Watch franchise in 2011 with a game, manga, and anime planned. The first game in the franchise for the Nintendo 3DS was released in Japan in July 2013, and the original anime premiered in January 2014.
