Good news for fans of Hideo Kojima. A new action spy game from renowned creator Metal Gear Solid is in development and was announced during today’s State of Play broadcast.
Details were basically scant, but during the presentation, Kojima said the project was a new intellectual property and described it as much a movie as a game. “Of course, this is an interactive game,” Kojima said, “but at the same time it is also a movie.”
Production is expected to begin “in earnest” at Kojima Productions after Death Stranding 2 and in partnership with Sony, so expect a release on PlayStation 5. During State of Play, Kojima said he “believes” this new game “will be the pinnacle of his career”, adding: “we hope to overcome the barrier between movies and video games.”
Physint will be the name of this project. Kojima Productions’ Twitter/X account also commented that Physint will have “almost lifelike graphics”. With the full support of SIE, this new action spy game will use cutting-edge technology and a stellar cast to deliver an unprecedented experience. “Blurring the lines between movies and games, delivering near-lifelike graphics and a new approach to interactive entertainment,” the tweet said.
As expected, Physint will launch in 2026.
