First, sorry for the late review! I am recovering from ANYC–which has been wonderful, but I have a cold. This is a change of pace from The Kingdoms of Ruin. Luckily, the last two episodes tone down the brutality. Adonis and Doroka find themselves in a desert beyond the control of the human army, but then some post-apocalyptic, Mad Maxesque bandits discover them! Luckily, the super-kind thugs, took care of Adonis and taught Doroka some lessons about motorcycling. It’s nice to get a few laughs, but Adonis is still blinded by revenge. I was impressed that he tried to leave Doroka behind in the biker world because he didn’t want her to endure any more pain or hardship on his journey. I was surprised that he was able to show compassion and concern–he seemed so determined to slaughter humanity.

He shows sympathy again when they come across the imprisoned couple in Sand Land! The old man singing the song and seeing his dead wife’s skeleton was incredibly sad, but I didn’t feel any connection to these characters (a recurring problem with this anime). Doroka wants to at least free them, but Adonis says to let them go. It seems cruel, but the cell door is unlocked. This couple was imprisoned, persecuted, and abused because Sasha was a witch—leaving them at least somewhat at peace compared to the hell they may have endured for so long. Touch. Touch. Maybe there’s still some heart left in this anime. This show definitely didn’t pass the three episode rule. I think many of the episodes have been a long time coming, but these last two were more interesting.
