Like the first season in 2009 (with 25 episodes) and the second season in 2011 (with 13 episodes), Kimi ni Todoke – From Me To You the third season will be directed by Production IG manufacture. Voice actors Mamiko Noto and Daisuke Namikawa will take on the roles of Sawako and Shota respectively, while details about the cast have not yet been revealed.
The manga Kimi ni Todoke – From Me To You ran from 2006 to 2017 in Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret magazine and ended with 30 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media describes the manga as follows:
Sawako Kuronuma is the perfect heroine…for a horror movie. With striking similarities to the haunting film character – jet black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor – she is mistakenly called Sadako by those around her. But behind her intimidating appearance lies a very misunderstood teenager. Too shy to socialize, all she wants to do is make friends. But when the most popular boy in class befriends her, she’s bound to gain more than that – she’s about to make some enemies!
The manga inspired a spin-off titled Unmei no Hito that ran from 2018 to 2022 and was compiled into three tankoubon volumes. It also inspired a 2010 live-action film.
Earlier this year, Netflix released a live-action television adaptation (titled From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke) of the manga.
