Actor Kenpachiro Satsuma, real name Yasuaki Maeda, passed away at the age of 76 on December 16 due to interstitial pneumonia, according to his family’s announcement on social networks.
He initially got sick in November.

The official Japanese Godzilla Twitter account posted a tweet expressing gratitude for Satsuma’s contributions in bringing Godzilla to life in the Heisei-era Godzilla series.
A ceremony for his relatives is scheduled, followed by a farewell party at a later date.

Satsuma, originally from Kagoshima, started his career at a steel factory before turning to acting.
He is famous for his role as Godzilla in the 1984 film Godzilla to the film Godzilla vs. Destoroyah in 1995.
