“Let’s see how far I can go”
I don’t know how I feel about Solo Leveling – it’s been 7 episodes where the plot seems pretty on par with the manhwa, but somehow it still gets stale? I don’t know you tell me. This time we see Sung trying to overcome the system’s limits by doing 200 push-ups and running 20 km. By doing so, the system rewards him with a loot box, this time giving him a key to the hell palace-where he meets a puppy named Cerberus. This is a bit difficult but he can do it because he is a Solo Leveler! Of course he would win, no doubt about it. Although it was a pretty good fight – I felt like it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. I really can’t believe that this series I was so hyped about has disappointed me. It’s weird because I keep comparing Solo Leveling to JJK for the kind of animation they should have had-but then there’s another show I’m obsessed with right now. Shangri-la Frontier was a surprise to me compared to the previous season with 25 episodes. I could still easily watch it again and only the last episode was so amazing with such strong animation that I here view Solo like the animation is a bit average.
Sigh-I guess, what can you do besides ramble about it on the internet? Aren’t Japanese directors looking at MAL and what do Westerners think about this? Although this series was made with the idea that anime is a global medium, that’s why all of the system’s text boxes are in English. That’s why a super popular K-pop group did the intro etc. I really hope Solo Leveling finds a second wind in something like Toonami when it gets a proper dub fit.
Last week I forgot to mention that Sung’s VA was doing this performance! He’s doing a great job conveying the more emotional and nuanced moments of the show, congratulations to him, it really throws it out of the park. And just like a proper match in a tournament where your team is playing poorly – he’s pushing bot lane and missing all his team fights because of him – level up solo, laugh out loud.
I have very little to say about this episode so this week’s short review – I guess the Cerberus animation was fine – has nothing to write about RC at all. That’s all for now, have a nice day.
