Flag Pictures and Aniplex have announced that an anime film adaptation of the novel Trapezoid will premiere in Japan on May 10, 2024.
A teaser image and 30-second trailer for the film were also released. release.

The 2016 novel Trapezoid was written by former Nogizaka46 idol member Kazumi Takayama, who appeared in a special video message posted by Aniplex commenting on the anime adaptation.

The film is directed by Masahiro Shinohara (Is the Order a Rabbit? Bloom assistant director), with Kouji Masunari (main director of Blue Period) as film supervisor, Yuuko Kakihara (Buddy Daddies, Blue Orchestra) as screenwriter, Rio (Sorvious Stabber Orphen: Doom of Dragon`s Sanctuary) is the character designer and Masaru Yokoyama (Mashle) is the composer. CloverWorks is in charge of animation production for the film.
Voice actress Asaki Yuikawa will also voice the film’s main character Yu Higashi.
Japanese music group MAISONdes will also perform the film’s main theme song, which was previewed in the trailer.
Takayama’s novel was serialized in Kadokawa Media Factory’s Da Vinci books and news magazine from 2016 to 2018. Kadokawa released the novel in print in November 2018.

The story follows the 10 years of Yu Higashi – a young high school girl whose goal is to become an idol. To achieve her goal, she sets four strict rules for herself: stay away from social media, don’t have a boyfriend, don’t stand out at school, and make friends with beautiful girls all over Japan.
